Thirsty River, regarding WoH buff
Anyone who's done Thirsty River after the buff knows that it's very much more difficulty than it has ever been. It's still doable, but now that it's been buffed, the priests can use Word of Healing on themselves. This is a huge change.
Sometimes you have to ignore the outside mobs in order to take care of the priest in time (especially in HM).
I wanted to spark a discussion about creating effective ways to take down the priests and the monk boss, including HM tips.
Shroud of Silence didn't seem to work as well as I expected to.
Blackout is something I haven't tried yet, but has to be an effective skill against them.
Was Scourge Healing is obvious, but I haven't tried it either.
If you have hero specific suggestions, they'd be good to (eg, interupts and force target).

Interrupts, daze, hexes... didn't find it any harder than before, personally.

Yes but BHA is a Factions skill. The mission should be doable with skills available up until that mission without HERO's.

For NM, you don't even need skills for it... you can just out-DPS them. HM, if you don't have BHA, don't forget fun things like Power Block, which will knock out both their WoH and Orison

General caster shutdown:
- Diversion
- Blackout
- Daze (half duration on bosses in proph)
- KD
- Maelstrom
You want to kill the priest, the monk boss is later concern.
General strategy, as always.
Start assault slightly before the two minutes counter.
Kill as many mobs outside as possible and start attack on the priest when you have about 1 minute left.
You want your main focus on the priest, not on the monk boss (nice if you can shut him down).
Make sure to bring enchantment removers, this makes killing the priest easier.

If WoH is the problem, there's a simple solution in the form of Signet of Humility (Mesmer, linked to inspiration magic). That signet will lock down the target's elite for more than long enough to score the kill, and all the other healing skills on the monk boss and the priests are pretty easy to overpower.
Enchantment removal and methods of inflicting deep wound are also very useful to have somewhere in the team's repertoire.

[skill]Concussion Shot[/skill] whiskey tango foxtrot? and it's available from fisherman's haven quest.
There's a full second on orison, and 2 for aegis. If you can't nail it, well considerer not using a flatbow at long range...

For hard mode, I thought I needed an interrupter. Usually, I run minion bomber, spiteful spirit, restoration healer, myself as lod/prot and for this mission protector and brawler. I dropped the spiteful spirit for an interrupter. I tried a mesmer hero, a broadhead arrow ranger, and a magebane shot hero and failed with each of them. Then, I went back to my original build without interrupts (with the exception of Technobabble which is a conditional daze and also brough Defile Flesh for 33% less healing). I had no problems this time and had a much easier time killing before the timer ran out.

I have found that using frustration, arcane conundrum *and interrupts to be more than satisfying. The last time I ran thru there with my Necro though I brought a wither/malaise/spirit shackles build which seemed fairly efficient for the monk, but it made everything else a bit more challenging.

[skill]Disrupting Lunge[/skill] worked great. I had my pet tank the monk boss while the henchies and I wiped out the priest.

Well, they nerfed the Thirsty River priests Nov 15th. Nothing to worry about anymore. Now they rarely use WoH on themselves and they heal for less.

Except that healing reduction cant drop past 30% or something, except with lingering. Your best bet is either a mesmer or bha.
